Got Any Ideas???

Ok, so this would be a great place for anyone who has an idea about what kind of reunion we should have to post their thoughts.
I'll get the ball rolling by saying that we should have it at the school (for the sake of nostalgia) and have some of the old teachers back, have a tour of the school as it has changed quite a bit and maybe have a picnic the next day. I know this sounds ambitious but hey, it's only every 20 years right??
If you have other ideas, post them here and we can get this thing rolling!

Thanks!

Richard

The "reunion at the school" idea is a good one but from what I understand, one that is fraught with red tape and expense. The school has to agree to open during non-school hours AND pay janitors overtime/time and a half/double time to be there and clean up afterwards. In addition, and I know this is a sore point, alcohol cannot be served on school grounds. For alot of people, there are certain standard things you must have at a reunion: food, a DJ, and alcohol. If others are in agreement that they want to do it at the school, I'm down with it, but those things should be kept in mind. I won't withdraw in protest if it's held at the school.
:)

In terms of ideas, my thoughts are fairly standard, bordering on cliche. Have the reunion at the Jaycees hall, a DJ to play current hits but heavy on hits from 82-86, put up poster size pics from the yearbook if possible, do superlatives (most kids, least amount of hair, etc.), a moment of silence/special area in remembrance of classmates we've lost, invite old teachers (especially Mr. Maness). Perhaps the reunion could be a weekend-long event. Friday could be a golf tournament for anyone who wants to play/tour of the school, Saturday night could be the reunion itself, and Sunday could be a family day at a local park. Some classmates may be coming from a long distance and these events could make the trip more worthwhile.

Those are my thoughts. I'm not married to any of them and look forward to working with folks in the coming months.

I worked at the Baysox until last summer (7 years). We could do an event in late afternoon where we rent out the restaurant, take batting practice, have a family event, and then schedule something in Annapolis or Chuck County for that evening that is geared more toward adults.
